6725 Broome

6725, where the desert meets the sea.  More than 600 kilometres from north to south, the only major centre is Broome.  Pearling town, multicultural town, tourist town, the government wanted an LNG town but the local community was having none of that.  With Aboriginal people making up about 45% of the population, it’s a place where the gap that needs closing is often starkly illustrated.  As long as you are prepared to give as well as take, it’s a place that, like the Aboriginal people themselves, will welcome you with open arms.
