4000 Brisbane

I lived in Brisbane nearly 20-years ago and recently moved back for a 12-month stint.  It’s as though I’ve woken from a coma to find a brand new city.  The vibe has changed. It’s a whole lot friendlier (and dog friendly), the coffee culture has at last taken off, public transport has improved with the addition of a fleet of CityCats and monohull ferries servicing terminals stretching from The University of Queensland at St Lucia to Northshore Hamilton.  South Bank has given the city a massive boost.  The cultural precinct with the Gallery of Modern Art, the State Library hosting endless quirky exhibitions, the Performing Arts Centre, the Griffith Conservatorium and the Queensland Museum – all just an easy bridge walk from the CBD.  Endless chic cafes, up-to-the-minute bars, restaurants, markets, community events and Sunday sessions lure a constant stream of visitors and locals.  If you have to be in a city – this is the one.
