Mansfield is a self-reliant community which aspires to control its destiny. Fiercely determined, it’s the only local council in Victoria to have successfully lobbied for de-amalgamation and independence. It celebrates its history and geographical features. The three policemen murdered by Ned Kelly are buried there, and commemorated in the central roundabout. Tourism and agriculture are the main sources of income along with in excess of 32 festivals and events available across the year.Gateway to Mt Buller and the Victorian High Country it has a deserved reputation for the high quality of its local cafes, galleries and restaurants.
