There is currently fear that the Woden Town Centre is dying due to the exodus of many Public Service Departments from the area however as this image shows there is much to look forward to. This is the construction site where a new 12 storey three tower apartment block construction is well underway & the cranes now dominate the skyline over North Woden and Lyons. This is a view of the Brindabella Mountains that many residents of O’Malley (also in 2606) have. The suburb is named after King O’Malley, who was the politician who arranged the competition for a design for Canberra. 42.8% of the population was foreign born, the fifth highest for any Canberra suburb and Embassies and High Commissions in the suburb include: Bangladesh, Chile, Croatia, Czech Republic, Ecuador, Eritrea, Georgia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Laos, Libya, Mongolia, Malta, Pakistan, Portugal, Romania, Samoa, Serbia, Slovakia, United Arab Emirates, Uganda, Venezuela, Vietnam and Zimbabwe. Woden Town Centre offers many choices for eating out and is at its busiest of course on Friday and Saturday nights.
