In the over 20 years that I have lived in Parramatta, I have seen its transformation from a backwater suburb to one that can legitimately claim to be the second CBD in New South Wales. With a rapidly growing, culturally diverse population and infrastructure to match, Parramatta’s development continues to gather pace, yet it remains easy to enjoy and explore on foot or two wheels. There are ample open spaces and walking/cycling tracks along the Parramatta River foreshore and at the World Heritage-listed Parramatta Park. One of my favourite spots to just sit and watch the world go by is the recently revamped Centenary Square, a central place for community, commerce and celebration on the odd occasion that one of the local teams achieves sporting success.
