Awakening from a sleepy industrial era, Waterloo is in the midst of gentrification and transformation. The suburb is awash with construction sites, all wanting to become small inner city communities. However, the change has not come without a price. There is a forgotten part, a more gritty part, of Waterloo that is trying to stay alive. Just as the Waterloo public housing estates and industrial warehouses have given way to new hip cafes and community infrastructure, the rat population has been decimated and replaced by trendy dog breeds.
